About
ITMAC – the Irish Tobacco Manufacturers’ Advisory Committee – is a consultative body whose membership comprises P.J. Carroll & Company Limited, JTI (Ireland) Limited and John Player Limited.
ITMAC does not engage in any form of trade nor does it have any role in the manufacture, purchase, marketing or pricing of tobacco products. Rather, it exists to provide a point of contact through which government, state and EU agencies, office holders, regulatory bodies, representative groups, economic and research organisations, trade bodies, media organisations, members of the public and others can approach the industry. Matters that fall within its remit are those, and only those, which affect the industry as a whole.
Another function involves communication with tobacco retailers and their representative bodies whereby ITMAC may provide the retail trade with such information, practical support and advice as may be permissible and sought by them in relation to the retailing of tobacco products.
The Council of ITMAC is comprised of six persons made up of two representatives from each of its constituent member companies. Chairmanship revolves on a biennial basis. ITMAC is also served by a Secretary.
